When you're working on a research project, it's critical to keep your data organized, well-described, and findable, both for you and the research team.
Join the Library on Teams on Wednesday, January 18th from 12:15 - 12:45 p.m. for ‘How the Heck Do I Handle My Files? Tips for Organizing Your Research Data’, a discussion of good practices for research data file and folder management. If you've ever sat in front of your computer trying to recall how ‘experiment-1-data.xlsx’ was different from ‘trial data good copy.xlsx’ and ‘data final version USE THIS ONE.xlsx’, this is the workshop for you!
We’ll explore techniques to help you clean up your act - or at least your project folder. Topics will include:
- Directory structure
- File naming, formats, and versioning
- Data documentation (READMEs, codebooks, and data dictionaries)
